Agricultural Development
The purpose of the agriculture programs is to improve food security and livelihood within the target communities. The organization through its agricultural development programs has designed training and development programs that are not only meant to improve the production yield for crop farming through irrigation and improvement of animal production for the pastoralist community living in the area. The organization through its agricultural program seeks to enhance the production of subsistence crops such as bananas, rice among other. The organization through various programs ensures that training will be done on new methods of farming, after production storages and marketing for more profitability.
The strategic Interventions in the Agricultural Program:
- Train local community in modern and alternative farming (crops and animal production) and economic activities (Crop and Fish Farming)
- Provide local communities with crop seedlings that are more resistant to draught
- Support farmers with farming inputs (fertilizers and seedlings)
- Train the local community in value addition to their produce
- Train the local community in land use maximization and utilization to improve livelihood
- Train in crop irrigation and water conservation to increase food production and attain food security
- Dig more boreholes and provide more water for irrigation
- Train in goods practices for harvesting and storage to reduce post-harvest loses
